Best Benchmade Knives

Benchmade is one of the most well known and respected kniving manufacturers around.  Benchmade started out in California in 1979 as Bali-Song.  Bai-Song knives are now known as the “butterfly” knives, a common favorite amongst most buyers of all age groups. In 1988, they changed their name from Bali-Song to Pacific Cutlery Corporation, and eight years later, moved the entire company to a larger facility in Oregon City, Oregon.  Benchmade knives are very popular in a lot of niche markets such as outdoor sporting, cutlery, rescue, law-enforcement, martial-arts, and the military.  Benchmark claims that the 3 M’s set them apart from their competition: materials, mechanisms, and manufacturing.  We have tested many of Benchmade’s knives and will break down the top 5 of their most prized and award winning knives in this article.

What Are Benchmade Knives

As we mentioned before, there are so many niche markets for these knives that anyone can use them for anything.  Benchmade is a company that has really focused heavily on the tactical and high-tech combat aspect of the market, and it has really made them a dominate player in the manufacturing world.  Another great aspect they have is their unique AXIS lock mechanism created by Jason Williams and Bill McHenry.  Benchmade focuses on their quality of knife to help them stand out.  A good knife will stick with you for a lifetime and that is something they highly believe in.  They are second to none in the market.  They use high end material such as 154CM and S30V stainless steel for the blades and certain handles.  To make things even easier, Benchmade uses three classes to differentiate their knives.  The Gold Class, these are ultra high-end custom designs.  A lot of wealthy collectors tend to search for their knives in this class.  The Blue Class, these are very high quality knives as well, but these are used more for everyday tasks.  The knives in this class are reasonable in price but definitely going to deliver success.  The last class is the Black Glass, these are designed and mainly used for law enforcement and military personnel.  More of the combat type knives.

Why Benchmade Is A Great Brand

Looking at a knife can be easy.  Finding the quality of a good knife is the hard part.  As stated earlier, Benchmade’s quality of knife is second to none.  So as we discuss the top 5 knives, we will be able to see what their quality is all about.  A good quality knife can take you very far in life and will always deliver.  This is what keeps Benchmade in the top of their class and keeps the business alive.  Quality is just one of the many things to look for in a knife.  You will want to also look for durability and maneuverability along with comfort.  A mix of all four will bring you joy when finally buying your knife.

Best Benchmade Knives Of 2017 Review

Now that we have a good general idea of what Benchmade is all about.  Let us dig in and take a look at their top five products.  Start with the number 5 and working our way down to number 1.

5.) Benchmade 275 Adamas

The Benchmade 275 Adamas was designed by Shane SIbert.  It is a folding knife with a tactical drop point tip and the famous Benchmade AXIS lock.  The handle is somewhat large but has three holes in it to reduce weight and increase feel.  The handle is made of G-10 material and is very high-end.  The blade is made of a D-2 black coated steel.  This knife is amazingly sharp and still somewhat lightweight, however, still considered a bulky knife.

4.) Benchmade 810 Contego

The Benchmade 810 Contego knife is a folding knife and an all purpose knife.  The 810 Contego is just loaded with features to help get any job done.  It has a CPM-M4 super steel blade ranking it in the 62-64 HRC range and again it contains the AXIS lock mechanism.  It also has a tactical grip for maneuverability and comfort.  The knife can be opened with either hand making it great for anyone that is ambidextrous.  It provides the ideal balance and has the ability to deploy quickly.  On the pommel is a glass breaker for smashing out windows and other types of glass.  When the knife is fully open, it is around 9 inches long, giving you the feel of a large knife but the handle of smaller one.

3.) Benchmade 940 Osborne Design

The Benchmade 940 Osborne Design is sleek and slender.  The blade itself is only 0.411 inches thick.  The S30V steel is lightweight and allows the knife to be simply tucked away in your pocket.  The handle can come in a multiple colors as well!  They wanted the look of an old school pocket knife and got what is now one of the top selling knives in their market.

2.) Benchmade Barrage Straight Edge

The Benchmade Barrage Straight Edge knife is the knife used mainly but not only for our policy officers and military personnel.  It is a true weapon that is designed for combat rather than day to day tasks.  The handle is made up of G10 and is super heavy duty followed up with the M390 super steel blade.  For those of you who don’t know, that material can be compared to strength of tools like wrenches.  Another great feature is the spring assisted opening that will never deploy on accident.

1.) Benchmade 761 Titanium Monolock

The Benchmade 761 Titanium Monolock is our number one knife.  It is nearly impossible to break with a M390 steel blade.  It is extremely functional and the quality is so good that it will last to be passed on from generation to generation.  For those of you who don’t know about M390 steel, it has superior cutting ability and wear resistance due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides.  It is most popular in surgical cutting instruments and other jobs that require precise and high finish.  This knife is second to none and will provide some of the best results you will ever see.
